Mark your calendars, we’re going to kick off the first series of classes for parents interested in babywearing. Every other week, starting July 12th, 2008, we are going to be running an hour long babywearing class. The instructor is Marie Rinkoski who is a very experienced babywearer and familiar with every kind of carrier. The first half of the class will be a talk about one aspect of babywearing and then the second part will be a demo and try-on period. Classes are on a drop in basis, but, feel free to call ahead if you know you are going to come. We plan to alternate between one weekday and one weekend day so that all who are interested may attend. Please call if you have any questions! 410-444-6060

We have a whole new section in the shop for wellness products for mamas and babes. For the expectant mom we have Mommy’s Bliss Belly Butter to help keep the constant itchy feeling away and aid in preventing stretch marks; a Natural Pregnancy DVD that shows what you can do to keep healthy and fit during your pregnancy and discusses birth choices (as an added bonus there is a pregnancy yoga session at the end!). For post-partum moms we have nipple cream for some much needed comfort and Weleda Nursing Tea to help with milk production. Is baby suffering from colic, or is she just a little too fussy? Try Baby’s Bliss Gripe Water! This is an all-natural cure for gassy or upset tummies, that is pediatrician recommended and 100% organic. We also have Weleda Diaper Care that is compatible with cloth diapering (as in- it comes out in the wash). Also check out the Baby Starter Kit for a sampling of the Weleda line. As always- more coming soon, so check back for more later.

In Druid Hill Park on Saturday April 26th, there will be a festival similar to many of the other great festivals in and around Baltimore, except this one will have a total {green} theme. Read all about the ecofestival at the Baltimore Green Week website. This is such an amazing organization and we are honored to be a part of the festival.
We’ll have a bunch of new products, like this adorable organic robot onesies…

New organic slings from Hotslings in Natural and Parisian Blue…

Wooden toys, diaper bags made from recycled plastic bottles, more organics & other sustainable fibers…and much more!

We are now stocking one of the leaders in the cloth diaper market- the bumGenius 3.0 one size fits all pocket diaper. We are the only store in the Baltimore area carrying them, so come by and check them out.

New & Improved 3.0 includes newborn insert and one-size insert
The first cloth diaper loved by every-day people is even better!
New 3.0 features:
Redesigned stretchy tabs - trimmer, yet snug and comfortable
Wider slot - easier stuffing and removing insert
New insert stopper - keeps clothes dry
Return of the extra-small - fold down insert stopper for shorter rise
Bundled with newborn insert - less bulk for little babies
Grippier hook and loop - stays put and looks good Cloth diapering has never been so easy!
bumGenius! one-size cloth diapers offer an industry first, stretch- to-fit tabs (patent pending). The redesigned tabs provide a comfortable fit and trim look. This simple design makes cloth diapering as easy as using disposables. bumGenius! one-size cloth diapers are perfect for care providers who might be resistant to cloth diapering (including daycares and dads)!

We have them in White, Twilight, Grasshopper, Blossom, and Butternut. The are $17.95 and go from birth to they are out of diapers. What a bargain! Washing instructions included.
Please note: In the near future Bediboo will be facilitating classes in our classroom area- The Nesting Center. One of the re-occurring topics will be cloth diapering, among many other topics. We are happy to bring this wonderful resource to Baltimore families. Please join our mailing list, or check back to the blog to see when these events will occur.

A usual Monday- the store is closed, so we’re off to Hampden for Stella’s dance class at Experimental Movement Concepts. During class Jewel & I do tend to wonder a bit to the stylish shops down below- Double Dutch Boutique and Atomic Pop.
Jewel wanted to try on some sunglasses:

And after class, Stella is picking flowers and practicing her moves, as usual:

I feel we hit the jackpot of style when we discovered this sweet little stationery company called Three Wheels Design.
Mom to 2, Vicki, has been designing stationery for awhile and is entirely self-taught, but, who would ever know?! We are so excited to have her stuff in our shop because it’s high quality and totally chic -and- she is a local! We love to have a variety of products that show off the talents and designs of area parents. We have her work on our site as well as in our shop. The personalized note cards take 3-5 business days to process and they will be on their way to you (or, if you are local too, you may pick them up at our shop). These cards make a perfect gift AND a nice treat for yourself.

The other day I was in my local Gymboree store and a woman came in and asked the clerks if they had any teething toys for babies. The clerks told her she should check out the dollar store, that is the only place that would have something like that (!!!). The dollar store for baby toys? Made in China- full of harsh chemicals- nasty plastics-right into baby’s mouths, etc. ? No way! Of course I let her know about my store- where we are all about safe toys for babies! I don’t think she has come in yet, but, it was still a gratifying moment to know that what we are doing is very needed, we just have to keep spreading the word that there are available alternatives out there.
Check out some of our cool wooden toys here!

Since we have been stocking them- Rileyroos shoes have been one of our biggest sellers. It’s no wonder why parents are so crazy about them: they fill in a gap in the market for shoes that are perfectly suited for new walkers. Once your baby graduates from soft soled shoes, you may want something a little more substantial for going outdoors and even walking around the house. Rileyroos have a rubber sole that are comfortable, flexible, supportive, and help toddlers get a grip as they learn to balance themselves and get ready to run. Not only ridiculously cute and stylish, they are so reasonably priced at $28.00, which makes them simply irresistible!

Bediboo loves Baby Loves Disco!
In case you didn’t already know- Baby Loves Disco is now a mainstay in entertainment for families in Baltimore. Join in on the fun on March 30th , April 20th, May 10th, and June 14th at the Rams Head Live downtown. We are excited to be one of the sponsors of this awesome event and look forward to watching all the kiddies cut up a rug and booggie-oogie-oogie right on through nap time.
Buy your tickets here. They are $12 and non-walkers get in free! Not to give too much away of the fun times ahead, but, you will most likely get your $12 back in merchandise…because there are many exciting give-aways!
I look forward to seeing you all there!
